"My work happens at a point of tension that opens up from the painterly bending of visual habits. I don't want to pull the rug out from under the viewer, but merely soften its consistency a little. Perhaps one is then tempted to reassure oneself of this consistency."

Andrej Auch (b. 1995) was born and raised in Dachau, Germany. He received his MFA from the Academy of Fine Arts Munich in Karin Kneffel's class in 2023. Andrej's paintings present a world of intangible, leading us to question the hidden facts of human condition and its symbiotic relationship with living surroundings. The depiction of torso, figures, space, and nature, enthralling and obtrusive, transform figuration into fragmented, polymerous realities.

Auch seeks to achieve a delicate balance between the familiar and the unfamiliar in the visual elements of his paintings. Rather than completely upending viewers' perceptions and understanding of subject matter, he employs visual elements such as colour, texture, and composition to create an atmosphere within the artwork that subtly alters viewers' sensory experiences and, to some extent, challenges their preconceived notions.

Auch’s work is featured in The Other Side of the Moon, Buchheim Museum, Munich, 2023;. His exhibitions include: Sternenbeutel, Braun-Falco Galerie, 2022; Fieber, Akademie Galerie, Munich; New York, I Love You, 11 Cortland Alley, New York .
