After two years of operating remotely, ZIAN Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of a new space in the heart of Hangzhou. Marking this new chapter for the gallery, Homecoming brings together works by artists with whom ZIAN has developed longstanding relationships: Ding Hongdan、Feng Chen、Piero Golia、Guo Tiantian、Liu Langqing、Marius Steiger、Philipp Timischl、Wang Xingyun、Kohei Yamada and Zhao Gang.

Homecoming approaches the idea of return not as a fixed destination, but as a sensual experience of orientation and re-orientation. Home is felt through the body: in the familiarity of a surface, the memory of a gesture, the pull of an image, or the subtle recognition of a place once inhabited. To come home is therefore also to find one’s bearings: to locate oneself in relation to others, to space, to memory, and to the world.

The exhibition brings together artists whose practices engage with these shifting coordinates of belonging and perception. Their works trace moments of attachment and displacement, intimacy and estrangement, familiarity and discovery. Here, homecoming is not necessarily a return to where one began, but an ongoing practice of finding, losing, and finding again one’s sense of direction.
